the bermuda isle rules of play--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
one
manners matter! please be considerate of other people on the site, whether they be regulars or guests. it's natural to have character who don't get along (that's the reason we're here after all), but out-of-character arguments will not be tolerated on THE BERMUDA. that goes double for unsavoury, racist, sexist or otherwise discriminative remarks and behaviour.
two
this is a pg13 site. while this is a site about a war, outright and graphic violence is not allowed. this goes the same with any graphic sexual material.
three
no image posted in this forum should stretch our boards. 500 pixels is your maximum width for banners, signatures and images posted in any and all threads. if you have problems resizing anything, feel free to ask one of the staff or another helpful member.
four
please don't use text talk like 'omg' or 'lol' in your roleplay posts. in-character threads must be made in past tense and third person. good grammar, punctuation and spelling is highly valued, and if you know these aren't your strong points, use spell check.
five
no spamming. if you're going to post, make it mean something. long posts are good, but only if the contents are relevant and general succinct. don't spend five paragraphs on what your character is wearing unless it's completely essential to the thread. also, double posting is sin. and, in most cases, sin is bad. speaking of spamming advertising can only be done in the allotted board.
six
one character per account please. face claims are a must on this site. we accept real people models (i.e. actors, musicians, models, etc), no anime or cartoon models.
seven
character applications must be approved by an admin. any in-character posts made before your application has been accepted will be deleted. before in-character posting begins, please ensure your display name matches that of your character's. first and last names are required, middle names are optional.
eight
no god moding. you have control of your characters and your characters only. when roleplaying, please make sure that the person/s you are roleplaying with have a chance to react to any actions you've taken. it is unfair for your character to have all control in any situation without allowing other character to get involved in play.
nine
no mary sues. magically blessed as they are, these characters are still human. and humans aren't perfect. we'll be watching out for flaws. other things we'll be looking out for are unoriginal characters. please do not transpose characters from established fandoms (for example, using well known names [i.e. cullen, halliwell, etc], pairing face claims with specific powers [i.e. giving sarah michelle gellar super strength]).
ten
our roleplay posts have a one hundred and fifty word minimum. the occasional 'small' post is allowed, but please do not make a habit of it. also, try to match your partner's post count. if someone writes a one thousand word post, it would be insulting to follow it with a two hundred word reply.
eleven
this site does not have a character per member limit, but if you wish to play several characters please ensure that these characters are all balanced out and active. for example, do not make all your characters female, or have every person you play a member of the wainright family.
twelve
no one-post roleplay threads. these are completely pointless. if you want your character to demonstrate something, either make it a journal entry or change the post to allow another character to join in. also, don't roleplay with yourself (that is, a thread containing two characters played by the same member), this is another pointless activity.
thirteen
the limits on your powers are left up to you. that being said, keep in mind that characters receive their powers between the ages of sixteen and twenty. naturally, it will take a long time to master their powers. if the admin feel you have a little too much power for your age, your application will not be accepted until you knock it down a few pegs.
fourteen
and lastly, the most important rule: the admin are allowed to add, remove or alter any rules to this list. members will, of course, be notified by both pm and announcement. and there will be an unspecified grace period for different rules (for example, if we put out a ban on new female characters and you have one awaiting review, she will still be considered).
